The more pictures the better! Many students have limited language skills. Illustrations provide interest, entertain and educate. |

Most West Indian children share a proud African legacy. Review the books carefully to eliminate any that are culturally insensitive. Stories that teach morals, communication skills and the value of sharing ideas are most appropriate. Text books usually are not accepted; however some readers may be appropriate. |

Stories featuring animals, inanimate objects come to life (like "Little Toot" and the current "Thomas the Train Engine" series), and wacky animations (like Dr. Seuss) are always welcome. Bible and historical stories written for youngsters are also welcome. Text books are not appropriate. |

Adolescent to Community College level biography, history, sociology, astronomy, social & behavioral sciences, applied science, and music books are needed. In addition, "How to" books on many topics are welcome. Most textbooks are not appropriate, but some readers are accepted. Please contact us regarding any questions about textbooks. Please, no outdated material (no encyclopedias, current sciences etc. before 1999). |
